Antonia F. Stepan

C–H Functionalization – From Academic Collaborations to Industry Applications

 

Originally from Karlsruhe in the Southern part of Germany, Antonia began her under graduate studies at the University of Heidelberg and earned her under graduate degree from the ETH Zurich, Switzerland, working with Professor Erick Carreira. Antonia then moved to the UK to obtain a Ph.D. under the guidance of Professor Steven V. Ley at the University of Cambridge. After two years of postdoctoral studies in the laboratories of Professor K.C. Nicolaou in La Jolla, California, Antonia joined the Pfizer Medicinal Chemistry Department at the end of 2008. At Pfizer, Antonia mainly worked on targets for the treatment of neurological disorders and served as a chemistry and research project leader on discovery programs that advanced drug candidates to clinical candidate nomination and beyond. In 2017/18, she also worked as a project leader in the immunology department at Boehringer Ingelheim. At the end of 2018, Antonia joined Roche as the Section Head for Neuroscience and Rare Disease Medicinal Chemistry. Antonia has co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed papers, reviews, and patents and was recognized as a‘Young Investigator in Medicinal Chemistry' by the American Chemical Society in 2015.
