Title and Abstract: FROM PINE TO PERFUME: SUSTAINABILITY-DRIVEN PERFUMERY INGREDIENT INNOVATION

Dr. Maud Reiter is Vice President, Ingredient Portfolio Design within Perfumery & Beauty business unit at dsm-firmenich.

Maud received her undergraduate chemistry degree from Imperial College, London in 2002, followed in 2006 by a DPhil with Professor Véronique Gouverneur at the University of Oxford. After postdoctoral work with Chemistry Nobel Prize Laureate Professor Sir David MacMillan at Caltech/Princeton University, Maud joined Merck& Co. in 2008 in Rahway, NJ, USA as a medicinal chemist. In 2011, Maud moved to corporate R&D within dsm-firmenich, first as Director of New Ingredients Discovery, and then as Vice President, Discovery Chemistry & Development, where she oversaw Discovery & Process R&D of new ingredients, as well as process optimisation of existing palette ingredients. Since September 2025, she took on a new role within dsm-firmenich Perfumery & Beauty business unit, as Vice President, Ingredient Portfolio design, where she is leading upstream strategic direction of P&B Ingredients portfolio, in alignment with sustainability targets & regulatory constraints
