With over 300 patents, he has invented solutions for dozens of multinational corporations. His inventions have also served as the basis for several new companies. Examples include: <a href=\"https:\/\/colmeddev.com\/\">Collaborative Medicinal Development<\/a> (ALS therapy), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.myhairprint.com\/\">Hairprint<\/a> (hair color restoration), <a href=\"https:\/\/collaborativeaggregates.com\/\">Collaborative Aggregates<\/a> (asphalt warm mix rejuvenators), <a href=\"https:\/\/ambientphotonics.com\/\">Ambient Photonics<\/a> (lowlight indoor photovoltaic devices for IoT and BIPV).<\/p>\n<p>He is one of the co-founders of the field of green chemistry, co-authoring the defining text <a href=\"https:\/\/smile.amazon.com\/Green-Chemistry-Practice-Paul-Anastas\/dp\/0198506988\/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2LOCXHQT5XHPP&amp;keywords=green+chemistry+theory+and+practice&amp;qid=1668546997&amp;s=books&amp;sprefix=green+chemistry+theory+and+practice%2Cstripbooks%2C66&amp;sr=1-1\">\u201cGreen Chemistry: Theory and Practice\u201d<\/a> and articulating the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondbenign.org\/about-green-chemistry\/\">12 principles of green chemistry<\/a> with Paul Anastas. John has over 100 publications providing foundational work in the fields of noncovalent derivatization, polymer photochemistry, metal oxide semiconductors and synthetic organic chemistry.\u00a0 John has received prestigious awards as an academic (<a href=\"https:\/\/paesmem.net\/recognition\/awardeeProfile\/998?referer=AWARDEE_SEARCH&amp;filterUpdate=true&amp;awardeeName=&amp;state=&amp;year=2004&amp;category=&amp;go=Find&amp;max=10&amp;offset=0&amp;format=\">Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Mentoring<\/a> \u2013 President G. W. Bush &amp; NSF, 2004) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.gdch.de\/gdch\/prizes-and-awards\/gdch-awards\/august-wilhelm-von-hofmann-commemorative-coin.html\">August Wilhelm von Hofmann Medal<\/a> from the German Chemical Society, 2022), industrial chemist (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.soci.org\/news\/awards\/perkin\/awards-perkin-john-c-warner\">Perkin Medal<\/a> \u2013 Society of Chemical Industry, 2014), inventor (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lemelson.org\/aaas-and-the-lemelson-foundation-announce-the-2016-2017-class-of-invention-ambassadors\/\">Lemelson Ambassadorship<\/a> \u2013 Lemelson Foundation &amp; AAAS) and for governmental chemicals policy (<a href=\"https:\/\/clintonwhitehouse4.archives.gov\/WH\/EOP\/OVP\/initiatives\/reinventing_government.html\">Reinventing Government<\/a> National Performance Review \u2013 Vice President A. Gore &amp; EPA, 1997). He received the American Institute of Chemistry's Northeast Division's Distinguished Chemist of the Year for 2002 and the Council of Science Society President\u2019s 2008 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencepresidents.org\/leadership-citation\">Leadership award<\/a>. Warner was named by ICI Services as one of the most <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icis.com\/explore\/resources\/news\/2008\/12\/08\/9177358\/the-2008-icis-top-40\/\">influential people impacting the global chemical industries<\/a>. In 2011 he was elected a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acs.org\/content\/acs\/en\/funding\/awards\/acs-fellows.html\">Fellow of the American Chemical Society<\/a> and named one of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.utne.com\/politics\/25-visionaries-changing-your-world-2011\/\">25 Visionaries Changing the World<\/a>\u201d by Utne Reader. He serves as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.monash.edu\/science\/news\/current\/green-chemistry-founder-appointed-distinguished-professor-at-monash\">Distinguished Professor of Green Chemistry<\/a> at Monash University in Australia and was named an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unisyscat.de\/de\/news\/display\/calendar\/event\/tx_cal_phpicalendar\/2022\/09\/05\/inaugural-lecture-of-honorary-professor-john-warner.pdf\">Honorary Professor<\/a> at the Technical University of Berlin. He served as the 2020 and 2021 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.johnwarner.org\/bath-global-chairs-2020-2021-appointed-the-university-welcomes-four-new-distinguished-international-visiting-professors-in-the-global-chair-scheme\/\">Global Chair<\/a> for the Center for Sustainable and Circular Technologies at the University of Bath. In 2017 the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and The Technical University of Berlin announced the naming of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.chemicalinventionfactory.com\/\">The John Warner Center for Green Chemistry Start-Ups<\/a>\u201d in his honor. He serves as strategic advisor for the Science, Engineering and Health Committee of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.vic.gov.au\/\">EPA Victoria<\/a> in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>John received his BS in Chemistry from UMASS Boston, and his PhD in Chemistry from Princeton University. After working at the Polaroid Corporation for nearly a decade, he then served as tenured full professor at UMASS Boston and Lowell (Chemistry and Plastics Engineering). In 2007 he founded the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.warnerbabcock.com\/\">Warner Babcock Institute for Green Chemistry<\/a>, with Jim Babcock (a research organization developing green chemistry technologies), and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondbenign.org\/about-green-chemistry\/\">Beyond Benign<\/a> with Amy Cannon (a non-profit dedicated to sustainability and green chemistry education). John is constantly giving keynote talks and workshops on Green Chemistry, Innovation, The Circular Economy, and Biomimicry.
