Lecture Topic: CEBRANOPADOL, A NOVEL ANALGESIC - IT’S DISCOVERY FROM THE MEDCHEM PERSPECTIVE
Stefan Schunk was born in Vilshofen, Germany in 1971. After a short term research stay at Rice University Houston Texas, he graduated from Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg in 1998 having worked on Lochmann-Schlosser bases. He obtained his PhD degree in organic chemistry under the supervision of Prof. D. Enders at RWTH Aachen, before being awarded a XXX medal and a DFG scholarship to continue as post doctoral researcher under the supervision of Prof. P. Kocienski at the University of Leeds working on the total synthesis of Ionomycin.
Before entering the field of medicinal chemistry he started his industrial career at AnalyticonDiscovery focusing on natural product based libraries and drug discovery approaches. As medicinal chemist he held various roles spanning from lab head via project lead to department head working in the fields of pain and inflammation. He currently holds a role in the business lead area overseeing the pre IND pipeline and working on a sustainable pipeline.
Stefan Schunk is co-author of 15 publications, 2 book chapters and more than 50 patents.
