Riga has a moderate climate, influenced by its close proximity to the sea. The average temperature at the end of June & July is around 22 °C (72 °F). Occasionally the temperature may rise to 30 °C (86° F) and above. Be prepared for occasional showers at all times.

Credit cards are widely accepted: Visa and Master Card most widely used cards, but American Express, Diners Club and JCB are also accepted. ATMs are accessible 24/7; can be found throughout the city and shopping centres.
Travellers Checks are not commonly used in Latvia. You can exchange them in local banks. Normal banking hours are Monday-Friday 09:00-17:00. Some branches exist in Supermarkets and have extended hours and are open on Saturday.

Shops are generally open 10:00-19:00 on weekdays and from 10:00-17:00 on Saturdays. Many shops are open on Sundays as well. Most major shopping centers and supermarkets are open 8:00-22:00 daily.
